Discovery of Borobudur temple in Indonesia
Young researchers from Bandung Fe Institute found sophistication of the construction of Borobudur by the King of Mataram, Samaratungga in 824 AD.
The discovery was presented before the Ancient catastrophic team led by Special Assistant Area of Social Assistance and Disaster Andi Arief in Jakarta, Saturday (07/30/2011).
The research was conducted to reveal the big question how can Borobudur is built on a high hill. For the era when the year of manufacture, the technology is being used.
From the results of such research, it is known that the construction of Borobudur temple proves the mastery of fractal geometry-based technology that is already known by our ancestors when building the temple of Borobudur on the height of the hill.
Fractals are geometric objects that rough at all scales, and seen to be "divided" in a radical way. Some fractals can be broken down into several sections that are all similar to the original fractal.
Fractals are said to possess infinite detail, and can have a similar structure on different levels of magnification. In many cases, a fractal can be generated by repeating a pattern, usually in a recursive or iterative process.
Fractals are geometric shapes that have elements similar to the overall shape. Borobudur temple itself is a giant stupa in which consists of other stupas smaller. Continue to lack berhinggaan.
Fractal concept, now widely applied in science, technology, computers and art works. Only, whether in the construction of the Borobudur are familiar with similar methods, need to do more in-depth verification.
The names of the young researchers Hokky Situngkir (32th), Rolan Mauludy Dahlan (29 th), Ardian Maulana (29th). Bandung Fe Institute is an official mentor for the International Conference of Young Scientist and researcher who has been entered in the First Step to Novel Prize.
